BoE and ECB Policy Outlook September 2018

The Bank of England and the European Central Bank will announce their latest policy decisions on Thursday the 13th of September.

While both central banks are expected to keep interest rates on hold, it’s their guidance that markets will be keeping a close eye on. If little new is hinted at, the overall market impact could be limited. However, there is always the risk of surprises, particularly during the ECB’s press conference, which often sees euro volatility as investors react quickly to Draghi’s latest statements. Markets will be particularly looking for indications from either central bank that an interest rate hike could occur before the second half of next year.
